Why did you want to be a plant scientist?
We all need food to survive and plants produce varying types of foods for sustenance. I chose agronomy to help protect agricultural crops and to help farmers feed the world.
Can you explain what your job involves?
My activities focus on crop health and nutrition through crop rotation, fertilizer rotation and soil management for the optimum use of resources.
What are the pests/crop enhancements that you are working on?
My work includes nutrition, weed and soil management for obtaining higher yields of good quality food.
Can you describe how damaging these weeds can be for farmers?
Weeds snatch natural resources, spoil food quality and cause yield losses.
Why is your profession important in the challenge to feed the world?
The profession directly addresses the issue of food security on earth.
