World Plant Science Map
Innovations in crop protection and plant biotechnology are helping farmers all over the world to overcome the challenges and obstacles that stand in the way of feeding our growing population.
In recent times, with unforeseen events causing crisis situations worldwide, we have learned just how fragile food security can be, particularly in developing regions. Population growth is making it difficult to grow enough to prevent hunger, while climate change is adding to the task by increasing the likelihood of drought- and pest-related crop losses.
In this interactive map, we explore the ways that different nations are embracing plant science innovations to reduce food loss and waste. This is directly linked to food security or, put simply, having enough to eat; according to the UN 820 million people worldwide currently do not have enough food.
